DAY 2: Monacco
Sorry for the lack of posting the last few days the internet here is shocking and its been hard finding the time to blog in between the extensive and exciting list of things to do here ! The last few days have lived up well beyond my expectations everything there is to see and do here is beyond amazing with everywhere you look holding a pleasant surprise. This whole time I've been thinking all these small towns like Cannes, Nice, Monaco, St Tropez and any other of the well known french towns have been miles apart and am still shocked to realise there is only a 15 minute drive between them all! with every town being as beautiful and as rich with history as the last and next.
The day before yesterday we drove a short 30 minutes from Antibes to Monacco, driving along the coast being awestruck on every turn and corner astounded by the pristine views of crystal clear water and colourful villages thriving with life and rich with culture. Our first stop after arriving in Monacco was to visit the Royal Palace and it's amazing grounds perched on top of a hill over looking the small city. Around the palace grounds there were small alley ways and houses painted in colours of the rainbow with dainty cafes poking out of the crooked walls, being nothing short of beautiful!. After having some lunch in one of the typical and classic french restaurant offering only pizza, salads and crepes we explored and had a tour of the quaint little palace, during the tour I was so surprised to realise that Grace Kelly had been married into the family and had been the princess of Monacco being the mother of the current reigning Prince !
After the grand tour we walked through the lavish grounds to possibly one of the most amazing Aquariums i've seen, it was inside a building reminiscent of the white house and had the most vibrant coloured fish being quite a spectacle!
So far the south of France has been incredible, with so much to look at and do I could easily stay here forever !
Tomorrow we're off to the sunflower and lavender fields and The Gorge du Verdon which supposedly makes the grand canyon seem minuscule and dull (hard to believe, i know!)
Well If anyone actually read all of that, thank you! and I'll make sure I try post as regularly as possible and keep you guys updated with the amazing things we see and do over the next 3 weeks.
Also if you guys have the time have a listen to the band Odesza every song on there album 'Summer's Gone' is incredible and I have to admit there probably the only band I've ever said that about, so check them out there awesome !
